The Fundamentals of the Faith (Part 9)

Summary of the Major Issues

In summary, the biblical truths that this Fundamentalist affirms and will by God's grace, and conscience decision earnestly contend for are:

1. The reality that the Bible alone is God’s Word.

2. The reality that the Creator is a Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

3. The reality that Jesus Christ is God the Son (full deity and fully man).

4. The reality of the corporal, resurrection and ascension of Christ.

5. The reality of the imminent and physical return of Christ.

Some other Bible truths that are also under “academic” scrutiny are:

  • The biblical account of creation
  • Adam and Eve
  • the person and personality of Satan
  • the fall of man
  • the global flood
  • the tower of Babel
  • the book of Jonah
  • the authership of Issiah
  • the reality of Hell
  • the reality of Heaven
  • the final judgment and condemnation of sinners who do not come to know the Lord Jesus Christ alone as their Savior.

Jesus affirmed the truth of all of these doctrines while He walked this planet. These truths can be discovered today by asking God to enlighten us as we read and study His Word, the Bible.

Will you join me in upholding these essential doctrines of the Bible? Together we can all earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints.

There will be two more posts in this series what the fundamentals are not, and a practical concern with suggested application.

  • I finally had some time to read through all your posts on the fundamentals today. You have done a wonderful job. If one believes the first fundamental that the Bible is complete, inerrant, and infallible how could one who subscribes to the fundamentals you list "academically" question the issues you raise? Perhaps I am childish in that I believe that if the Bible says it, its true and that's how it happened, end of story. I need the concreteness of the Word in my life. If any of the Bible is questionable how dare I put my trust for eternity into Jesus's hands.

  • Mas~ the Bible and it's authority is a fundamental I will usually circle back to again and again, because of it's bearing on everything we teach and preach. Thank you for your contribution here.
