A Very Nice Present
My wife Rose gave me a very nice set of books this Christmas. All eight volumes of Lewis Sperry Chafer’s Systematic Theology are contained in four handsome books. I know I will enjoy them for many years to come.
This could be her way of saying it’s time to recycle.

I would so love to get Chafer's set.
I have Chafer's 'Major Bible Themes' but that is for lightweights.
I already have a few systematic theologies.
God Bless

Happy Birthday, John

Wayne Grudem's sytematic theology is very good. It has its faults and I disagree with a lot of his theology. However, I learned so much from that book. It was a really good book for an 18 year old student to read.
God Bless

It is a very good book for a nearly 50 year old factory worker as well.

Thank you Brother Mark!
I am a grateful owner of Wayne Grudem Systematic Theology (it too was a gift) and have read a couple of other things by him. Grudem’s S.T. includes many features that other Systematic Theology works leave out or ignore.
Matthew, if we only had books on our shelves that we agreed with, I dare say our shelves would be rather sparse.
Thank you Brian!

She would probably have words of praise for the donor and the recipient too.
Happy New Year!

Ahhahahaha.
Incidentaly she and I went to the Wilds couples conferance a few years back when Dr John Morris held the conferance on Creation. We got to sit with him at dinner everynight to. She likes those kind of books though and really takes to the evolution creation debate. Those books are acceptable:-)
All those stuffy theology books though she see very little point in as she says she cant understand all of that gibberish. Ah I love her.

Brian, would your wife be able to defend a particular doctrine from the Scriptures if she were challenged to do so?
By Matthew Celestine, at 1/1/07 6:24 PM
Incidentily my mother says that she has because of listening to my loud mouth for years:-)
She has trouble articulating though and some are just like that, but I have seen occasions where when someone pressed her out came a whole bunch of wisdom. Sometimes I think the Lord does that...its very interesting when that happens. I also have a retarded friend in whom I have witnessed that happen to as he has unsaved family memebers.
Not trying to sound to charasmatic but I do believe that the Lord is there in that time when it occurs.

My wife is very sharp though when it comes to the creation evolution debate for some reason though and I think it is that it sparks her interest a great deal.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for engaging here.
That sounds like a nice retreat. Dr. Morris’s dad preached at our church a number of years ago. No one can go wrong building and strengthening a solid biblical foundation that begins at the beginning, Geneses. My friend, neighbor, and brother in Christ, Bill always says, “If someone will accept, ‘In the beginning God…’ the rest is written down.”
I hope she will read a few posts (I plan on doing) showcasing the attributes of God; I will offer lots of practical applications there. Why? It is my aim to demonstrate that theology is timely, and practical.
Hi Matthew!
