. . . if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)
Thanks Brian, your wife is kind! My wife took the pics. We DO live in the flatlands, you are right, but that doesn't mean there aren't bumps on the road!
Reformation day pumpkins... John Babri ... you crack me up!!
We bought our Reformation Day pumkins the same day John and Rose did (we saw them there)!
My younger daughter asked if she could daw a face on hers and my older daughter exclaimed - "No!" Then went on to explain how that would be celebrating things the Bible says are wrong! Who's kids are these???
It was nice to see the Cole Clan at he orchard though!
Hi Dave! I read the argument about all of this over at the Cutting Edge ... I don't want to put in my two cents there, but I feel like I want to, here. We draw faces on our pumpkins ... we even carve them and put candles in them! and ... we don't think there is anything intrinsicly evil in that ... ! ... but we respect that it is OK if you do think that, that IS your decision ... Bless you all as you are IN the world, but not of the world.
(I hope I didn't just scare away all of your Halloween-hating readers, John.)
I don't hate Halloween! You are missing the point. I am really not THAT TERRIBLE concerned about wheter one chooses to go along with the pagan customs. I would never preach a sermon against carving pumpkins, etc... THAT (as John alluded to over at Cutting Edge) would be "fooliosh controversies."
My concern is centered around the greater picture of the role of the Christian in the world and what we call "evangelism."
Anyway, these are great pictures of the fam at Erie Orchard! Glad you ahd a great day!
By the way.. I can't tell you ho wmuch I am missing the service tonoght. Please pass my prayers and thoughts onto Pat!
John~ sorry to neglect your comment. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. These are not Reformation day pumpkins though they are just the regular kind, I think.
Jeremy, Why? Do you think I am some sort of a pumkin bumkin?
Joe, Rose is a very good cook! This time of year is delicious around our home, she is very creative too, but we are concerned what that could do to the fax machine. :( Why not come over and join us ... you bring the tea?
I hope you and your lovely wife are safe. We've been praying for those in the south more in the last two years...
John - Nice blog! Lots of things to read and think about. I will keep reading.
By the way, what do 'YOU' think about Halloween? I visited Rose's blog and read her opinion about it. As ANOTHER Halloween coming right around the corner, I cannot help thinking it's meaning and influence onto our faith. Let's share what you think.
welcome to the Earnest Contender! I am truly honored. I think I am going to hold out on answering your question because very shortly I will do a post about individual soul liberty if God permits. If you want my two cents on it you can find me wiggling out of a debate that started on The Cutting Edge(http://johnnybronco.blogspot.com/2005/10/reformation-day.html).

Are you serious? Would you really put a picture that is so easy for me to use to make fun of you?
Christian charity bids me bite my tongue.
By Jeremy Weaver, at 24/10/05 8:24 AM
No, go ahead Jeremy it was my idea to wear the corny straw hat anyway!
It's good to hear from you. With your permission I want to down load and print your commentary so I have some good reading for my lunch breaks.
Cheerfully yours,
brother John

Seriously, how could I use the words pumpkin and bumpkin together in a sentence? They just don't go together.
The commentary is yours. Be good to it.
By Jeremy Weaver, at 24/10/05 8:49 PM
Did you pick any of those pumpkins? Are you making pumpkin pie? Can you fax me over a piece?
